The Athens-Clarke County Economic Development Department is pleased to announce Acropolis: Athens’ Innovation Festival, a month-long celebration of energetic creators and forward-thinkers in the Athens community, with events spanning the month of April.
“The purpose of Acropolis is to further connect the creative communities in Athens and to show the region and the world the power of our innovative capabilities,” said David Sutherland of UGA's Entrepreneurship Program and member of the Acropolis planning committee.
The Athens-Clarke County Economic Development Department is joined by local entities representing local government, small businesses, academics, start-ups, educators and more (please see full list of committee members below) in organizing events throughout the month of April to celebrate the innovative Athenian spirit.
“Acropolis is the conversion of many minds engaged in entrepreneurship and economic development, “ says ACC Economic Development Director Ryan Moore. “This community continually exceeds my expectations, and the passion with which this planning group has brought forward a common vision is invigorating. I have no doubt that Acropolis, our first-ever innovation festival in Athens, will create waves in this community and around the nation.”
Events scheduled for the month’s programming include Chess & Community’s annual conference, kicking off Acropolis on April 1 at the Tate Center at UGA; a ten-year anniversary celebration at the Athens Farmers Market on April 5; Athens Science Café and the AFM at Creature Comforts on April 12; and the second installment of My Athens’ Go Getters breakfast lecture series and myriad other events. A detailed list of events will be published in the coming days at the Acropolis website.
